A digital ambition

Khaleeji Commercial Bank (as it was known) is one of Bahrain’s first Islamic banks. Recently brought out by GFH, the bank hired a new CEO to transform the bank’s performance in an overly-saturated Bahraini banking market.

Marketing challenges

Khaleeji have been changing their brand experience over the last 5 years in a bid to compete with other pure digital offerings in the regional market. The brand is newly refocused on a clear niche we call ‘the ambitious’.

Strategic approach

As per of the comprehensive rebrand of the bank, a new digital approach was undertaken to create a seamless, 360º digital brand.Starting with a transformation of the web interface which is now fully compliant with current web standards, the new Khaleeji brand experience is a seamless experience across App, Self Service Kiosks, ATMs and the new Workspace digital on-boarding tool used by branch staff, who can now initiate services or whole accounts from anywhere using a regular Tablet device.

 

To achieve this new brand experience, we designed a uniquely branded UI library (or UI kit) filled with common visual interface graphics, icons and navigational devices. These  were applied across all workstreams using a rigorous UI design approach. This design discipline ensured consistency of applications and navigation metaphors as well as  iconic, photographic and typographic standards.

Results of the work

The end result is a sea change from the previous brand. Now customers can enjoy a seamless digital brand experience wherever they interact with Khaleeji, inside a branch, via an ATM or on their mobile.
