The Artificial Generation
The theme of this year’s GFH calendar is AI. The thought is that 2024 will be the year that the amount of content generated by machines will eclipse that created by humans. This epoch of our collective history looks set to define our future. We could be witnessing the beginning of The Artificial Generation.
GFH Calendar 2024 art direction
The 12 monthly calendar cards feature a unique, AI-generated illustration. The art direction of the images is based on the brand icon, set within a context, each focussed on a unique sector in which GFH is invested; such as education, infrastructure, medicine, etc. Each card features foiled details. The monthly date is set in black foil (looks silver in the light, but it is black) using Guardian Sans Text with the rest of the English type in Guardian Sans Agate.
Ai Generated images were created using Imagine Art. Each image took on average 30 passes of a prompt to find the right form. The calendar is comprised of a title insert and 12 monthly cards.
GFH Calendar 2024 packaging
The title insert and 12 monthly cards are set into a trough within a black acrylic base, finished in matt black with silver logo detailing. The black base also features a logo detail, silk screened onto the smoothly textured acrylic, machined-finished base.
The casing features 2,024 random dates also generated by AI. Set within the random dates is the brand icon, reversed out and set in silver foil. The rest of the dates are foiled in black. Both are impressed onto Curious Touch Black paper, bound over a hard case with a magnetic closure and black ribbon release device.
Silver foil title blocks are featured on the opening side. The brand’s type face is Guardian Sans. For a more technical look, we are using the Agate version of Guardian Sans, which is purpose-designed for smaller sizes. It foils well on the black paper and provides a unique aesthetic. The calendar packaging and accompanying notebook both feature the same master graphic element of the brand’s logo rendered using the 2,024 random, AI generated dates.
